The adjustment knob attaches to the clutch cover ring. Keep in mind that this part is sold individually and is made out of plastic. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer and used in chainsaws made by Homelite. A screwdriver might be necessary during the installation of this part. It will need to be replaced if it becomes broken.
