The rewind spring goes between the starter grip and the rope reel. This is a genuine replacement part for chainsaws made by Shindaiwa and Echo and is sold individually. It is made of metal and plastic and will need to be replaced it if becomes broken. A screwdriver may be needed when replacing this part.
Ordered a new rewind spring which is contained within a plastic housing. Simply placed the entire assembly into place and adjusted the tension of the pull rope after installing the cover. Then, put the rope on the handle.
