Remove the side cover just like if you were replacing the chain. The guide plates are held in place with a couple small screws. Remove them and install the new ones. I removed the bar and chain from the unit, then with a phillips head screw driver, I removed the sprocket guard and lifted out the two small bevel gears, chain tensioner, tensioner bolt and collar which are one small unit. Removed the sprocket guard removed three screws. Put the new parts in place, and replaced the screws. Then replaced the sprocket guard, and tightened the chain.
