This is an authentic Echo replacement part that has been sourced from the original manufacturer to be used with edgers, chainsaws, hedge clippers, and trimmers. The piston ring and engine oil for a seal between the cylinder wall and the piston. The seal separates the crankcase and the combustion chamber. The seal maintains the compression pressure allowing the motor to run and idle normally. If the ring because damaged the seal can be broken allowing combustion gasses into the crankcase causing a loss of compression and engine failure. This piston ring is available as an individual replacement part.
