3 screws and brand new. They do not make machines like this anymore. This trimmer was handed down ( bought in 1984) and is stronger than anything on the market today. It\'s a beast and thank you for the part.

It was nice to be able to order the exact part I needed. It made the replacement very simple.I will use ereplacement parts on my next project. Was very happy to have my trimmer of 15yrs still running. Saved me money on buying a new trimmer at 400 dollars. Oh the trimmer is a Shindaiwa T25 with a adjustable carburetor that you can\'t buy t hat anymore. Thank you. All you need to do is remove the three screws from the old starter and remove it. Then install the new starter with the three screws , and you done.

Removed the pull rope assembly, it has 3 phillip head screws. Just make sure the gas tank strap stay connected to a bracket under the pull rope housing. Then apply the new housing and secure it with the 3 screws.
