The 6691716 Fuel Cap Assembly Orange is a genuine Tanaka replacement part. It purpose is to keep the fuel in the fuel tank. It is removed from the fuel tank to refill the tank. It includes a retainer that remains in the tank to keep the fuel cap from being lost or falling on the ground and getting dirt and debris on it and contaminating the tank.
