I followed a step by step online video specific to my Dewalt model and it walked me through from the removal of the chuck with an allen wrench to removal and replacement of the damaged transmission assembly. It was simple and straight forward. You just need a size 10 and 15 Torx screwdrivers and a few allen wrenches and your done. Good as new!

1. Remove chuck inner screw counter clockwise T40 torx.
2. Unscrew chuck .
3. Remove 4 Phillips head screws in transmission.
4. Remove main body T20 torx screws.
5. Remove or cut sticker label on back of drill.
6. Remove main body cover to access transmission and motor. Separate the two and install new transm ission. Reassemble .

removed bit assembly and transmission. replaced transmission and bit assembly works great.
