The instructions were clear: that I should use a screwdriver to ease off the broken coupling piece before screwing the new one in place. The instructions stated that it typically took 3 - 4 attempts. My experience was different and I was afraid I would break something in \'easing\' it off. It took many attempts and in the end, I used plie rs to help. The screwdriver caused the old coupling to break and was beginning to scratch the surface of the base. It did come off eventually and the new part was installed easily. The blender works well now, with no leaking. I\'m very pleased.
