Worm gear was chewed up. The gear box had vert little lubrication in it from the factory. This saw was not a Jet product but an after market called a Clarke about thirteen years old
Removed the shaft, gear and bearings from the saw as a unit. Installed new bearings and gear on the shaft and installed in the gearbox. With the motor disconnected I turn it over by hand to check proper gear alignment. All looked good and smooth so I put some gear oil in the gearbox and the cover on. Runs great and my thanks.
