Product Description

?

Genuine Delta Wheel Tire for Bandsaws. This part is made out of Rubber and is Sold Individually. When putting the tire on a band saw Wheel, it may seem too small but it is not. Band saw Tires will typically come approximately 2 or more inches smaller than the Tire you're replacing. The old Tire stretches over time thus becoming less effective and eventually will break. Also, as Tire ages the rubber hardens and allows the Blade to slip. You would need to put the New Tire in Hot/Warm Water to heat the tire enough to make it pliable enough to stretch. Its preferred to use two people in the stretching process.

I warmed the new tires in a bowl of hot water. I loosened the adjustment on the saw. I took the news tire out of the hot water and stretched it on by hand twice and slipped it on as I turned the wheels . They work great.

Don\'t try to put new tires on the band saw drums when the temperature in your work area is below freezing. It may be better to soften the tires in Hot water before stretching them on the drum, as their strength may be greater than that of your fingers. There has to be a simpler way, but if you are a novas like me you have to just pray and pull as hard as you can. It did help when I clamped the tire on one side of the drum as I stretched the rest of the tire onto the drum.

I took the top wheel off to make it easier to stretch the tire on to the wheel. Once on, I reinstalled the wheel, and tightened the blade tension adjuster. Turned the wheel by hand to see that it would not walk off the wheel. Then closed the saw before testing it under power. It ran great. Checked inside once more and found every thing ok . Tried cutting so wood and my Delta band saw was ready to go. I have already used it twice since the tire replacement.

1. Removed the remnants of the old tires.
2. Replaced the new tires after I flexed and stretched them for about 10 seconds.
3. Started the tire on one side of the wheel and just walked it around like putting an inner tube in a bicycle tire. It was over 100 degrees in my shop so the rubber was very pliable.
