Ball bearings are generally utilized to reduce the friction between rotating parts. The balls or rollers take the load and spin, distributing the weight evenly while the minimal contact area of the ball reduces friction. The bearings had rusted and were making the line roller on my Stradic FL 4000 noisy. The bearing at the base of my crankshaft in my Curado DC 150 had also begun rusting
