Replacing the case is very straight forward, remove the four screws that hold gear case, remove all screws that hold halves of rear case assembly, remove armature assembly and field after disconnecting leads, remove the brush holders and brushes after disconnecting them, remove brush terminals and reinstall on new case, install the little flat coil springs on new case, this is the only part that was a little difficult for me since they are small and can only go in one way since the sit in case that secures them is closed on one side, then it is a simple matter to reverse disassembly procedure, grinder now looks as new!
