Product Description ?

This is a Rocker type switch that has 2 terminals and 1 lead connected to the outermost terminal. This genuine Bosch replacement part is sold individually.

rnrnSwitches are commonly replaced parts in power tools. A switch handles on/off and variable speed functions. They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement. Some common signs of a broken or failing switch are:rn

  • The tool has completely stopped functioning – it will not turn on.rn
  • The tool operates intermittently, requiring multiple tries to turn on, until eventually it won’t turn on at all.rn
  • The variable speed function and electric braking aren’t working properly.

    Router would not turn on

Remove top housing by removing 2 screws. The speed control box is above switch but simply slides off of mount without disconnecting any wires. You can now see and get to the switch very easily. One wire on the switch can be carefully slid off the switch with a pliers. To remove the other wire to the switch I had to slide the switch part way out. There are 2 prongs on the side of the switch. Squeeze them inward with your fingers and the switch will slide out. Now you will have room to slide off other wire to switch. I used a small (eyeglasses) screwdriver to carefully slide wire off.
Reverse order to install new switch. Repair was pretty easy.

    1. You only need to unscrew and remove the top. The speed control board easily comes off, but is just as easy to reinstall.
    2. I unmounted the switch from the case, but did not disconnect the wires until I had the replacement on hand for quick change out.
    3. After the old switch is removed, attach the longer cable of the new switch first. Then attach the 2nd switch contact. I found that a needle nose plier was useful for this step.
    4. Slip the speed controller back into its parking spot and reattach the top with the screws removed earlier.
    5. Plug in the power cord and test.
The whole process can be done in 15 minutes.
