How to tighten snowblower drive belt

Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. Here is some general information on how to install a drive belt onto a snow blower. Before removing and replacing the drive belt, remove the fuel from the fuel tank. Then remove the lock nut that secures the chute rotator head to the mounting bracket, so you can remove the discharge chute. Next, loosen the screws that secure the belt cover to the frame and remove it. To remove the drive belt, remove the tensioner spring that is attached to the drive belt tensioner arm. Then remove the return spring that holds the swing plate in place. Then remove the arm bolt and the drive belt tensioner arm. Then remove the pulley bolt, the engine pulley, and the drive belt from the engine. Then remove the top bolt holding the swing plate to the frame. Then pivot and hold the swing plate away from the product and remove the drive belt from the drive pulley. To install the drive belt, pivot and hold the swing plate away from the product and put the drive belt onto the drive pulley. Make sure that the drive belt is routed in the drive pulley groove properly before you lower the swing plate. Then install and tighten the top bolt and put the drive belt in the groove of the engine pulley before installing it on the engine shaft. Install the drive belt tensioner arm and tighten the arm bolt on the engine. Install the return spring on the swing plate and install the tensioner spring on the tensioner arm. Then operate the controls to make sure that the drive belt is installed correctly and that all components are moving correctly. Reinstall the belt cover on the frame and secure it with the screws. Then reinstall the discharge chute. We hope this helps!
