thanks for your answer on 1-8-24.I removed 7 philip head screws from this unit. there aren't any others and still I cant see how to get at the battery. I guess I have to conclude there is no way to get to the battery. I dont want to pry it apart. Guess ill have to buy new. Thanks for your help.

Hi George, Thank you for your question. Once you have removed the screws from the dust buster, you will need to pry the housing open in the middle to unlock it. Once you have opened it, you will have access to the battery connections. You can then measure the continuity of the batteries to see which of the batteries have low voltage, although it would be recommended to replace all of them at the same time. Once the batteries have been replaced, you can reassemble the dust buster. We hope this helps!
