Questions & Answers for Manifold Assembly

Air compressor will not shut off till it pops the safety valve
    Ray asked on 2023-03-26
Hello Ray, thank you for your question. The safety valve pops open to relieve excessive air pressure if the pressure switch fails to shut off the air compressor at the cut-out pressure setting. Replace the safety valve if it leaks or pops open at normal operating pressure. We hope this helps.

Compressor would not build up pressure. Regulator portion had a broken internal part.

With power cord and air hose disconnected, remove two Phillips head screws under compressor case to enable the case to slide out of mounts. Do not separate case halves. Be careful not to lose rubber cushions. Using a small screwdriver or similar tool, pry open the crimped hose clamp. Remove hose from manifold. Remove pressure relief valve from end of manifold. Remove manifold from tank. Install new manifold. Install relief valve into new manifold with Teflon tape. Use a new small hose clamp to attach hose to new manifold. Slide compressor back onto mounts and replace Phillips head screws. Use soapy water solution to test for leaks after compressor has run a minute or so.

I had to remove the plastic housing on my Porter-Cable compressor because there was not enough room to unscrew the manifold. This was not a big problem but took some patience to figure out where all the screws were located. Also this required "Torx" screwdrivers which not everyone has in their toolbox. After that replacing the manifold was easy. Reassembly was not difficult but again takes a little patience . If I ever have to do it again I will be able to cut my time in half.
