Replacing the stripped gear really only took five minutes, but the machine was dirty and I spent 15 minutes washing the case and cleaning it up before reassembling the machine.

Three screws held the case closed and two screws held the motor assembly to the top of the case. I completely disassembled the case to wash it, but even at that it took about 20 minutes from start to finish. A less handy person may want to shoot a photo with their phone to be sure and reassemble the machine correctly, but it is quite simp le.
