Question: Carburetor Clogged
My trimmer has a blockage between the fuel line & bulb . Can't blow air thru inlet. It has a new bulb. Gas line is full of gas. Is there any way to unplug it?
I had this happen today. I took the bulb off and then the fuel pump cover. I removed the gasket of the fuel pump cover and found a bunch of brown debris in the channel connected to the prime hose. Cleaned it out and the engine started. Still not running well but that's another issue to be investigated.
Hello 1298418 It sounds like you have a check valve stuck closed on the primer side of the carb. Spray a small amount of carburetor/choke cleaner spray into it and work the bulb. After that spray some WD-40 through there to help lubricate and free the check valve. If the carb is off spray some under the primer bulb as well. The key is to KEEP the solvents and cleaners in the carb so they can work on the problem. If you spray, and it runs out, you aren't helping it much. The valve is very small and fragile so do NOT use a lot of cleaner or high psi compressed air through that intake line. Also, sometimes, on these small carburetors, much debris and trash will accumulate on the small fine mesh screen inside the body of the carburetor. You will find it when you take the cover off on the fuel pump side under the bulb. You will find the bulb difficult to push, but still have gas in it. The screen HAS to be cleaned to allow fuel to flow through the carburetor properly.
