Blade guard wouldn't retract

Removed the guard and link plate then replaced it and the associated spacers and washers and bolt. Worked great! The parts diagram and suggested parts for repair made it easy.

The guard would not allow a full depth of cut. I was required to, while the blade was full speed, reach down and manually retract the guard to complete the cut.

1.With the Saw OFF & UNPLUGGED.
2. Put the flat washer on the bolt.
3. Put the ring[ looks like a fat washer] on the bolt next.
4. Carefully with a hex wrench, screw the bolt into the curved Guard (guide) slot.
5. Be sure the ring engages the curved slot by (GENTLY) moving the guard until it
goes / SEATS into the curved slot.
6. Do not tighten the bolt to much; only tighten so that the flat washer is in loose
contact against the RING and the ring moves freely in the curved slot in the guard.
7. Tightening to much will bind the blade guard causing the Guard to not operate
smoothly.
8. That's it; now the guard will move smoothly all the way down to complete the cut,
without any dangerous hand manipulation while operating the saw.
