This heating element, also called a heater, maintains the heat of the water entering your dishwasher during washing and rinsing cycles. Usually positioned at the bottom of the interior, it also aids in drying by evaporating excess water from the dishes. If you find your dishes remain wet, show water spots, or feel cold after the cycle, the element may be broken. To assess its condition, look for any visible damage or signs of wear. Start by turning off the power and shutting off the water supply valve when replacing the heating element. Remove the lower access panels and unthread the water supply line fitting. Release the junction box cover, noting the wire orientation. Remove the grounding wire and strain relief nut, and detach the wires from the box. Disconnect the drain hose from the sink drain and guide it through the cabinet. Unthread the mounting screws securing the dishwasher to the countertop, cabinet, or floor. If needed, adjust the legs and gently pull the dishwasher from the cabinet. Underneath, disconnect the heating element wires and unthread the nuts securing the terminals to the base. Remove the lower dish rack and wash arm assembly by pulling it up. Remove the heating element terminals from the base and disconnect them from the retaining clips. Install the new element by aligning it with the clips, inserting the terminals through the holes, and securing them. Reassemble the dishwasher in reverse order. Before making your purchase, note that this OEM replacement part does not include any hardware.
