Product Description ?

This is an authentic DeWALT replacement part. The gearcase assembly is designed by the manufacturer for use in jig saws. This part is made of metal, and is used to house the main gear assembly and connect it to the armature. Please note that this part has been slightly re-designed from the original. The pin that supports the main gear has been modified by removing the washer groove and retaining clip. The new and old design parts are still interchangeable with some slight adjustments. The new design without the groove can be used to repair older products, and the clip and washer can then be discarded. The old design part can also be used as a replacement for the new design, but the clip and washer must be used to prevent possible damage to the gear caused by the sharp groove edge. You may require a screwdriver or Allen wrench when replacing this part. This item is sold individually.

  • Fixed my problem
I let the jigsaw fall from my workbench and the bottom plate attachment was broken. It took a while to get the part from the manufacturer, but it fit perfectly and took care of the problem. Installation required total disassembly, but it was straight-forward and all went back together just fine. I used grease from the old part.

Dewalt DW331 type 11 Jigsaw fell off bench and broke gearcase flange for the for the sole plate.

My Type 11 jigsaw was not listed. Took a chance and ordered the gearcase for a type 1. It fit fine.
Disassembled jigsaw to remove the gearcase and parts within the gearcase.
Transferred grease from old gearcase to new gearcase being careful not to contaminate it.
Had to hacksaw the old gearcase on both sides of the armature bearing to be able to remove it from the old gearcase. Did not want to damage the bearing by hitting on it. I believe I used socket tools to press or tap the bearing into the new gearcase. (it's been a while since I did this.)
Made sure the armature turned freely when installed.
Reassembled the jigsaw following instructions to discard the clip and washer on a shaft in the gearcase. Note that the brushes fell out on disassembly. Reinstalled the brushes after the armature was installed.
Disassembled the jig saw - forgot to move the clip on the flange to the new gear case. Did that and reassembled the jigsaw again.
    Jigsaw works great.
