This is an authentic Honda replacement part manufactured for use with small engines. The outer pre-filter is the foam filter that surrounds and protects the air filter element. This outer filter may wear out faster than the filter element because it is exposed more to intake contaminants. The outer filter is sold as an individual replacement part, please see model diagram for associative parts.
