This is an original part from Troy-Bilt. The extension spring is used in many lawn mower engines. The metal spring is designed to provide resistance to the pulley idler bracket assembly, allowing the idler to move back into neutral. The extension spring is sold individually. A wrench and pliers are helpful with the replacement.
