Question: Missing Miter Gauge For Dewalt 7...

LEEK

Noticed that Miter Gauge has been discontinued or part number 391921-00.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement ? Or do I have too create one ?
Much Mahalo,
WJA
The Dewalt 391921-00 has been discontinued. I'll bet you can create a better one.
If I had one I would give it to you. In my opinion it's more dangerous to use it than to not use it. I never saw a professional use one.
Question: No37639 Shaft

wolfey

since the manufacturer no longer makes it where can I purchase an aftermarket one?
WJA
Hello wolfey,

I have not been able to locate a suitable substitute for the Dewalt N037639 Shaft.

Question: Dewalt DW744

1559672

I had to replace the brushes and holders on the motor of my Dw744. While looking at the parts diagram I noticed an o ring (number 53) and cannot find if I have that in my motor. Is this contained within the housing somewhere or is it loose and I dropped it and need to replace? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. Bil
WJA
Hello Bil,

The Dewalt part number 99180-24 O-Ring is placed on the inside of the part number 153368-01 Gear Case. Opposite the O-Ring item number 52. On the parts diagram for the DeWALT DW744 TYPE 1 Jobsite Table Saw.

-WJA
Thank you. Does it just sit in there or does it go around something?
WJA
Hello Bil,

As I recall it just is placed in the housing and does not go around anything.

Question: Cable Bushing

iamhorse

How should the cable bushing be removed from the field case. Do I need a special tool or is it a one time deal for the bushing?
WJA
Hello iamhorse,

The Dewalt part number 605155-00 Bushing, is actually called a Heyco Bushing. And there are Heyco Bushing Pliers that you can purchase, but you don't want to do that. Just remove the Bushing the best you can and replace it with a new one.

Question: Moter

Wingerdoug

Can u buy the whole Moter completed for a dw744
WJA
Hello Wingerdoug,

Dewalt does not provide a complete motor assembly for the DW744 Table Saw. You will need to check the Armature and Field to see if the windings have been burnt or you can smell burnt insulation. Check the Brushes to make sure they are making good contact with the Armature. You may want to take those parts to a tool repair shop where they can be tested. Make sure you have the correct type number of the table saw before you order parts. Some of the part numbers are different depending on the type number.

Question: Dw744ty3

1161284

need a replacement field 144798-obsolete? will any thing else work ????? thank you ''''''
WJA
Hello 1161284,

Since the 144798-08 field is no longer available from the manufacture. You do have the option of getting it rewound. There are quite a few motor rewind companies out there, if you do a search you will find them. One that I am most familiar with is link removed. You may want to contact them and get an estimate before you send it in to be rewound.

Hope this helps,

Question: Table Saw Guards

998718

do they make an adapter so you can make the guard to be removable like the newer models
WJA
Hello 998718,

I haven't seen an adapter from Dewalt to make it easier to remove the guard on the older style saws like they have on the new ones.
Maybe if enough people contact the manufacture they will come up with something, there are a lot of the older saws out there being used.

Question: Dewalt 744 Type 3 Table Saw Not ...

Weav

The armature went bad a couple of months ago so I replaced it with a new one with the bearings already on the shaft. I also installed new brushes in the motor. The saw would not get up to normal operating speed and was low on power with the new armature and brushes. So..... the bearing in the reduction gear box was a little sloppy so I thought maybe that was what was holding the speed back so I installed a new gear box with new gear and bearing. Still no luck. Ok so I figured the field got a little to warm when the armature went bad and it was the culprit. I found one at Sears Parts but it didn't fix the issue with RPM either. I'm open for suggestions for what may be causing this issue. Guess maybe I should have just bought a new saw huh. -Weav
WJA
Hello Weav,

It sounds like you have replaced everything that could to RPM problems with your motor. You may want to double check the part numbers you ordered, make sure the brushes are seating good on the armature. You may want to unplug the saw from the power source and spin the motor by hand to see if there is any binding in the motor and it is turning freely.

Question: Field

Jonias

does anyone know how to remove the field from the field case
WJA
Hello Jonias,

There should be two screws, part number 330019-19 that attach the field to the field case. Once you have them out you can tap on the field case edge with a mallet and the field should start to slide out of the case. In some cases the field has become hot enough to melt the field case. Causing it to become almost welded to the field case. If this has happened you will have to replace the field case also.

Question: Cam Install

79725

Found this cam during tuneup.
Unable to identify application.
Hi'
That is a locking can for your saw's Throat Plate. Its attached to the throat plate and you turn a screw on top of the throat plate and it locks the throat plate down and prevents the throat plate from lifting up while cutting wood.Hope that helps.Good luck.

Question: DeWalt DW744 Type2

cntrtr27675

Is it worth repairing this saw again for $250 to replace the armatuer and saw lift mechanism or take the $350 deal on a new one and are the extensions transferable to the new saw? I would imagine it's a refurbished saw they're offering as new at the DeWalt repair shop!
Thanks in advance for your advise!!!
WJA
Hello cntrtr27675,

To me I would probably spend the extra $100.00 for the refurbished saw. As for the extensions I am pretty sure they will fit on the newer saw. To make sure take one off the old saw to see if it lines up with new one. I wish I could give you a better answer on that.
I would also ask them what type of warranty comes with the saw.

-WJA
Thanks you WJA!!!! The new/refurbished saw it is!!! I had gotten some great advise from Tinker on repair but we needed the saw before I found the time!!! Thanks again, Cntrtr27675
Question: Dewalt D744 Table Saw-replaced B...

Mike_A

Just finished replacing brushes on the motor and it still does not sound right. There seems to be a bit too much sparking going on in the motor housing. I did not replace the brush holders and don't know how to determine if they need replaced. What should I do?
Hi mile_A,
sounds like you have a bad armature. You will need to take it out and to a motor shop and have it tested.Hope that helps.Good luck.

Question: DeWalt 744 Type 2

916110

This saw was repaired by DeWalt a few years ago, but I coouldn't justify a $250 repair for a 10 year old saw. It runs but will frequently rattle as if its filled with loose bearings while still spinning and cutting! Freaks the guys out!!! Kinda funny!! Anyway that and the blade height adjustment is stiff and also very hard to turn!! I've lubricated it but that has only made a slight improvement! I've repaired many a tool in my 30 years as a nail banger...wait make that 'master' nail banger now...wow I feel better, thought I'd wasted my life for a minute there!! Anyone out there willing to take a stab at those two issues?
Thanks!!!
Hi cntrt27675,
Most likely the rattle is coming from the armature where the armature fan is loose on the armature. As the armature spins up and down the fan is rattling. Normally if the height adjustment is hard to turn the problem is located in the screw height adjustment binding in the follower nut.Over time dirt ,rust and sawdust builds up in this assembly and in some cases you'll have to remove the assembly and clean and wire brush it to ever get back to being smooth again.
I sorry I can't give you more exact information on the problem but might give you a area to start in. Hope that helps.Good luck.
Tinker
Hi Tinker,
Thanks for the response! I will take a closer look at the follower nut and cleaning it more than just lubricating it! What am I looking at to repair the rattle? The armature is $92.50 on this site, does that need to be replaced or is it possible the fasten or tighten the fan?
Thanks,
Cntrtr27675
Hi cntrtr27675,
Well the fan is not sold separately so the whole armature assembly would have to be replaced. But disassemble it any way to see for sure.it just might be something.Good luck.

Question: DW744

acpeters21

Can you get the motor all one piece. Mine started on fire..
WJA
Hello acpeters21,

I don't see where the complete motor assembly is available for purchase. You might try to disassemble the motor and see what parts are damaged and order the part parts that are needed.

Good luck,
WJA
Question: Dewalt Dw744 Tablesaw

station171

can anyone tell me how to get the armature out of the gear case? Is the bearing pressed into the case??
Thanks.
Hi station171,
The armature is not pressed into the gear housing. The armature is held in by a I.D. o-ring inside the gear case. This o-ring does two things .One it prevents gear grease from leaking into the motor housing and two it acts as a dampener. The armature can at times be difficult to remove. The best way is to take a rag and protect the armature with it. grasp the armature and while pulling make small circular motion and this will free the grip of o-ring from the bearing and allow you to pull it free. When reassembling you should replace the o-ring and lightly coat it with grease. Hope this helps.Good luck.

Question: Dw744 Motor Assembly

Adriano

Hi All,
The bearing on my motor went and melted the back of the field case and sleeve. I have now replaced all but can't seem to make the bearing and sleeve fit into the circular hole at the back of the field casing. I presume it should fit within it and not just butt up to it.
I have checked that all the parts are correct but the bearing is too big for the gap.
Any ideas? Many Thanks
Hi Adriano,
We need to know what type number your saw is ,as there were a number of service bulletins on this saw.The correct type number will allow us to help fix your problem.Thanks.
Tinker
Thanks for the response Tinker,
The Saw is a DW744 GB Type 2.
The replacement parts I bought are
DW744-2 SLEEVE 137382-00
DW744-2 FIELDCASE 389786-02
DW744-2 BEARING 330003-09
Hope this helps and thanks again

Adriano
Adriano, I don't see a dw744 GB in the system are you sure its not a SB?
Hi Tinker,
The plate on the front of the unit has the model number on it and it says DW744-GB Type 2.
Can take a picture of it for you but not sure if I can upload it to this site.
I am in the UK and it's a 240volt machine.
Don't know if that helps.
Cheers Adriano
Maybe the GB simply refers to it being for the UK marketplace?
Which would just make it a DW744 Type 2?
Adriano,
I can't find your model but the parts numbers you have match Dw744 type 2.It seems to me Dewalt made a field service upgraded. That is that if you replaced the armature they sent you the armature, bearings and a new housing. They went with a smaller rear armature bearing.I think what happened is that you have the new housing and your trying to put it on the old armature.the best thing is to call your Dewalt authorized service center and explain what happened and see if they can tell you what to do.Sorry i couldn't be more helpful but they don't give us service info on the UK saws.good luck.
Tinker
Thanks for the help Tinker,

Regards
Adriano
Question: Dw744 Type 2 Table Saw

gawlik729

while using table saw started to smell burning smell and table saw blew house breaker tried again and it blew breaker again
Hi gawlik729;

Without seeing the saw my guess would be you spun an armature bearing.once the bearing locks up it will try to spin in the plastic housing and some times causes smoking. Then as the motor is lock up it will throw the breaker. Can you rotate the saw blade smoothly?
Question: Dewalt Table Saw Motor

rhill

Was using my saw, motor quit replace worn brushes still would not start, have power to switch and thru?
WJA
Hello rhill,

I am guessing that your saw is either a DW744 or DW745. If you have continuity from the cord plug to the motor. Pull the brushes again and inspect the armature to make sure the commutator is not discolored or any of the bars are missing or raised higher than the others. Also check the brush holders, make sure there isn't any debris in them not letting the brushes make contact with the armature. You can also inspect the field connections to the motor cable.

Good luck,
WJA

Question: Help With Dewalt Table Saw Dw744...

jjmottis

I have just found that my armature bearing was seized and housing was slightly damaged from the bearing spinning.I ordered a new armature, field housing, bearing sleeve, and brush set put it all back together and it makes a weird noise like a whining high pitched noise upon turning it on.Im really lost on what to do next the saw is pretty much new now and i dont get why it makes noise can anyone help with a diagnosis?i triple checked the install of the parts also to make sure i didnt put something together wrong:p
I not sure how old your saw is but it sounds like your gear reduction is whats causing the problem.Under normal conditions the armature gear which is cut into the armature shaft and the arbor gear should be replaced as a set.If they are not replaced as a set you take the risk if having one worn gear and one new gear riding on each other and causing a whining sound. I'm curious as to why you replaced the armature and field when the bearing was bad.Where they damaged?
Thanks for the reply.......The saw is about 5-7 yrs old in great shape but motor started making a grinding noise so took it apart to find the rear bearing seized and housing damaged also.I never replaced the field it looked fine and the other gears looked to be in good shape also i really like the saw as my back up and am into it for 90.00 so far what other parts should i get to make sure they mesh the proper way?
The part number is # 153476-04.That's assuming That's the problem. Normally we would put the saw on what's called a "Short Stop" and check its amp draw to see if there might be something binding but you said that you double checked how it was reassembled so that would be my guess as to the problem.Hope that helps.Good luck.
Tinker
Thanks for the info i hope this fixes it the part isnt cheap its 78.00 i believe but i feel the saw is worth fixing .Getting back to your comment on the short stop what exactly is that and what symptoms would i look for if it was something else besides this gear. After i put this part in the motor will be virtually new except the field.I replaced the plug also and it plugs in both ways instead of having one large prong they r equal does that matter and are the brushes suppose to touch the armature when the are put in ??
The short stop does a couple of things. It tests products for short circuits, continuity of the ground wire, hi-pot, leakage current and current draw.As a rule of thumb AC motors should draw about 1/2 their amp rating when free spinning and a little more if they have a gear reduction.
