Question: DeWalt DC925 Keyless Chuck Remov...

1446242

I have a DeWalt DC 925 with a jammed keyless chuck. Most videos indicate a removal of a torx screw thru the opening of the chuck, mine does not have any type of screw head down the center of the chuck. how do I remove the chuck to install a replacement.
WJA
Hello 1446242,

We have an article and video on How to Remove a Drill Chuck. Just omit the part about the chuck screw. Make sure you have your drill in the drill setting and in low gear. It should come off with a little work.

Question: Dewalt Dc925 Hammer Drill

1238490

I purchased a transmission for my DeWalt hammer drill model DC925. when it came in a rubber band was around it. Removing the band, I bumped the transmission and it came apart. I carefully removed parts in order, well as luck would have it, I bumped the table and scattered parts everywhere. Does anyone have a diagram of the transmission. I called eReplacement parts, DeWalt service center and no one has schematic on the transmission. I've worked on it 3 days and about the time I think I have it figured out, something doesn't fit. Thanks bjturm

Hello 1238490,

I have not seen a parts diagram for the 613237-00SV Transmission. I spoke to one of my techs regarding this, and he said the same thing happened to him. He said that he spent so much time trying to rebuild the transmission. The he ended up ordering a new one and we had to replace it for the customer at no charge.

Question: Hammerdrill Ain't Hammerin'!

papasrepairs

The ol' DC925 don't hammer any more; I opened it up and noticed that one of the leads to the trigger had fractured/burned through (probably from overheating), but this was a byproduct of it not wanting to drill into concrete any more. Also, before it ceased working at all, it would frequently slip out of hammerdrill mode and into drill only. I assume they're related?

Which part has pooped out? As with Sergeant Schultz, "I know nothing, nothing!"

Thanks, y'all.
Hi papasrepairs,
I don't think I'd put any money into that drill. You have a number of problems and your looking at well over $100.00 in parts. You can get a new Dc928 on ebay for under $100.00.I'd go that route first.Hope that helps.Good luck.

Question: Hammer Drill Slip

1095045

on my drill in full drill it acts like I have the clutch set low especially in the high position. if I go to low it still slips but not as bad. I believe it is the transmission.
WJA
Hello 1095045,

With the problems you are having it sounds like your transmission has gone bad on you. The best thing to do is to replace it, then you you should be back to normal. The part number you would want to order is 613237-00SV.

Hope this helps,

Question: Dewalt Transmission Trouble Dc92...

cosmoking

:confused:I have a dc925 hammerdrill and when in the drill position I can hold the chuck and press the trigger and it skips. Im wondering if it the transmission. The motor is strong and the brushes are good. Please help.
WJA
You might try to move your hi/low shift slide either forward or back to see if it is in between gears (or in the neutral position) that is the most popular problem we have seen. If that will not fix it, you probably will have to replace the transmission. The part number is 613237-00 Let me know if that will take care of the problem.

Thanks,

WJA

I have a Dewalt dc925 which I can hold on to the chuck in the drill mode and the motor turns but the chuck will not spin it just clicks. When I try to do this with a dw988 I have I can not hold on to the chuck without it breaking my wrist. I wonder if the transmission is bad on the dc925. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Question: Self-tighening Chuck Opens In Re...

Kevin

I have a Dewalt DC970 with the self-tightening chuck. The chuck opens up when you try and back screws out with it. Does the chuck need replaced or can in be repaired?
Dewalt DC925 Chuck won't stay locked when reverse mode. It reoleases the bit. Anyone have any answers?
Hi Kevin: This is one of Dewalt's hair brain chuck designs. The chuck is non serviceable and will have to be replaced. Sorry I couldn't give you better news.Good luck.
Tinker
The new dewalt chucks are junk. I have had to replace these with standard keyless chucks for my customers.
Question: Changing Brushes

defosh

Hi can someone explain how to change brushes in a DeWalt dc925xrp drill ? Thanks
Hi, The brush spring and tube assembly are sold as a cartridge and you just take the lead off and gently pry them out.Hope that helps.
