This is a genuine OEM sourced replacement part designed for use with a variety of power tools. Cord guards, also called cord protectors, are designed to slide onto your cord and fit securely at the end, where it’s firm rubber will protect the base of the cord from getting bent and pinched, which can expose the wires and become a safety hazard. The cord was dry rotted

Simply disassembled the handle cover over cord entry, loosened the wire terminal screws, removed old cord and protector. Laid new cord and protector in place, reattached wires and cover plate. Works good as new!

Removed the handle assembly. Then the cord clamp. Removed the old cord wires from the switch. You may want to trim the new cord wires to the correct length needed. I then place the cord protector on the new cord and connected the wires to to the switch, and replaced cord clamp. When assembling the handle assembly, make sure no wires are going to be pinched. Then assemble housing. Done.

Remove one half of the handle. Remove the switch. Remove the cord clamp. Remove the cord wires from the switch. Slide the cord protector on the cord and reattached the cord leads to the switch. Reattach the cord clamp. And assemble the handle.
