Product Description ?

This rubber piece is a genuine Makita manufactured part. It is manufactured for various power tools. A cord protector guards the wires from damage caused by motion and strain. Damaged cords must be replaced to avoid safety hazards. A replacement cord is sold separately. This item consists of one (1) cord protector. This is a simple and quick repair.

1. Removed the switch housing
2. Removed the old cord and guard
3. Trimmed ends on new cord
4. Installed the cord through the new cord guard
5. Installed the new cord in the switch.
6. Tested router worked fine

Old power cord was dry rotted and had shorted out

Removed 2 Philips head screws to expose electrical junction box. Next I loosened 2 terminal connector screws inside junction box and removed the old cord. Attached new cord into the terminal connectors and tightened! Replaced junction box cover screws. This old Makita router was made in 1993 so the cord had seen better days! Works like a champ now!

Cracked cord, cracked cord guard.

Removed screws from switch cover, removed cord clamp, made note where the cord wires were connected. Disconnected cord. Slid new cord guard on new cord, then connected cord. Then installed cord and cord clamp. Replaced the switch cover.
