This is a genuine manufacturer sourced replacement part used on saws. This holder is made out of plastic with metal. This item holds carbon brush around the armature to provide stable and safe contact. Please note carbon brushes are sold separately.
To replace this assembly you would need a screwdriver and pliers.
• First remove brush cap and remove the carbon brush
• Carefully remove the brush holder and replace it wit a new one
• Install the brushes and secure the cap

Part arrived quickly however both the part and the saw had to modified to fit. I was glad to find the replacement part as Skill has discontinued making the brush holder. I would be curious to know if others have had the same issue as I did?
