This item is a genuine Metabo replacement part that has been OEM sourced and is intended to be used with angle grinders. The carbon brush is used to relay electricity from the switch to the motor assembly. The brush is pressed against the commutator bars while the armature is spinning and this can cause the brush to wear down over time and will need to be replaced. This item is a complete part assembly that includes the brush holder, spring, and one brush. This item is sold as an individual replacement part.

A small connector tab broke away from the brush holder in my Metabo die grinder.

Parts Used
1. Removed the screws from the cord end of the grinder, and the access cover (effectively splitting the control end of the grinder in half) to expose the brush set.
2. Pulled wire connectors from the old brush set.
3. Used a small needle nose pliers and a small screwdriver to gently pry the brush set from its mounting clip.
4. Replaced the brush set (provided by E-replacement Parts with a new brush) into the mounting clip and use the needlenose pliers to move the spiral spring from the side of the brush (which was holding it in place for installation) to the top of the brush, to push it against the armature.
5. Replace wire connectors.
6. Replace the brush access cover, and tighten the screws.

Remove the back cover of the grinder, disconnect the leads from the brush and holder assemblies. The remove them. Install the new brush and holder. And pull the springs around so they are behind the brushes. Install the back cover, and your done.
