What is the electronic resister or diode wired into the circuit block and what does it do. If bad will it stop fan or heater working
Robert howard for model number 157
Hi Robert and thank you for contacting us The main function of resistors in a circuit is to control the flow of current to other components. The diode is a one-way check valve only allowing power to flow in one direction. Yes if bad it will prevent it from working. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair.

Question: Old Ceiling Heater

1125560

I have a ceiling heater over 35 years old (that's how long I have lived in the house) most likely it is 50 years old ( same as house). It ran good, but I wanted to pull upkeep maintenance and did. I completely broke the appliance apart. There were 4 wires (2 white & 2 black) attaching to the heating element and I forgot which went where. There is no light....just heater and fan. I wired it both ways, tripped circuit breaker when put 2 blacks on one end and 2 whites to other. I think it is 1 white 1 black attached to each end of element. Anyway, can you give me any hint of what is going on?

I cannot locate a wiring diagram for this unit. You may want to contact the manufacture to see if you can obtain one from them.

Good luck,
