1. Had to adjust length of new shaft used metal cutter)
2. Added hardware from old shaft to new one.
3. Put everything back together.

1 .All I had to do was unscrew the lower shaft from the upper.
2. Disconnect the throttle cable from the carb and pry the housing end from the trimmer main body.
3.loosen the screws in the housing and pull the shaft out.
4.Reverse order to reassemble.
