This ball bearing is assembled by the original manufacturer. It is used in a variety of Powermatic, Jet, and Wilton power tools. Ball bearings serve to protect moving parts from wearing each other down and from damage due to incorrect position/direction. This is a high-wear part and will need regular replacement. Took off pulley removed head stock shaft knocked out bearings installed new ones after putting them in the freezer for 30 minutes that shrinks the bearings so they go in easy. Put shaft back. Installed pulley put belt on and done

Lathe made high pitch sound due to 3 worn bearings & would not change spindle speeds
Disassemble lathe spindle & found aluminium clutches frozen to chrome shaft (gulled because of dissimilar metals). Had to heat parts to separate pieces. Replaced drive belt & 3 bearings. Applied anti seize to aluminium parts to prevent this problem from happening again. Lathe works like new, sounds very quiet, & easily shifts speeds.
