This replacement magneto is specially designed for use with Briggs and Stratton engines installed on Toro lawn mowers. The purpose of this item is to supply electricity for the ignition system. It is sold individually. Please note a spark plug boot is sold separately.
Please note, steps to replace this part may differ based on your equipment. However, the basic steps would be the same. To complete this repair you should need a screwdriver set.
• Remove the housing/covers from the unit
• Remove the spark plug
• Bind the cylinder
• Disconnect the wires
• Remove old ignition coil
• Install new ignition coil
• Set the gap
• Reassemble and test the unit

PS the reason for the paper from coil box is to allow the magnet on the fly wheel to pass and create the magnetic field necessary to create the spark that the spark plug uses to fire the fuel in the piston chamber that allows you to mow your lawn.

4. Adjusted the spacing between the magneto and flywheel..
5. Filled fuel tank with gasoline.
6. Set choke, pulled rope starter a few times and engine started..

Then I removed the blower cover and replaced the armature using a file card for a spacer. Then back together and it started first pull.

I checked to make sure head and cylinder surface wasn't warped, de-carboned piston top and head. Re-assembled.
This type of repair is pretty straight forward.

2. Removed oil dipstick holder, metal motor cover, and spark plug
3. Removed old magneto coil
4. Installed new magneto coil using printer paper to space from flywheel
5. Reattached new spark plug boot, metal motor cover, and oil dipstick holder
6. Tested magneto for good spark
7. Reinstalled air filter housing, plastic fuel tank, and plastic motor cover

2. Searched for model number on front of mower
3. Ereplacements had correct replacement magneeto for my model number (local repair shops did not have the part)
4. Removed fuel tank and top cover, removed old magneeto
5. Installed new magneeto and set proper gap between magneeto and flywheel using a business card.
6. Replaced cover and fuel tank, sprayed a little starter fluid and off she ran!
