Question: Overheating?

Is it possible for an electric weed eater overheat and then die? My Weed Eater RT112 died. Is there a fuse somewhere? It didn't smell hot or start working sluggish, maybe a little slower. Is the motor shot? A switch would be a cheap fix but it hardly seems like the problem.
