Question: Need Help Replacing Trimmer Head...
Hello! We have an electric Weedeater Model 1212. The weedeater works great, but the line is always breaking. We have a Pivotrim trimmer head on a gas weedeater that doesn't work anymore and we thought about putting the Pivotrim on the Weedeater Model 1212, but we can't seem to figure out how to remove the old trimmer head. It appears that we will have to remove the plastic cover that has the electrical components in it, but should we do that? Does anyone here know the proper way to remove the trimmer head on this particular model. I don't even know if the Pivothead would work with this particular model since it is an older model, but if so, I'd appreciate any help. We've watched all the videos on installation for Pivotrim, but none of the videos have a model like ours. If neccessary, I can take photos of what the weedeater looks like. Just let me know. Thank you! :)
Question: Drive Gear Removal
How do you remove the drive gear assembly from the motor shaft on a Weedeater 1212?
Reply: Drive Gear Removal
Since the drive gear assembly was the part I was replacing, I performed a destructive disassembling process. Using a Dremel tool with a worn down cutting disk, I cut the drive gear assembly off below the nut. I tried squeezing the remaining drive gear assembly with various pliers to hold the shaft sufficiently to remove the nut and that did not work. Using the same cutting disk, I cut a slot in the end of the motor assembly shaft large enough for a small blade screwdriver. The rest was a piece of cake.
Question: Part Numbers
Why is there two parts with the same number (#8 - line limiter) that do not look the same.
Reply: Part Numbers
I believe what the manufacture is trying to show on the breakdown is the location of the Line Limiter on the guard. The line limiter is part #530351802 and is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
Good luck with your repair!
