does coupler come with all screws and knob

WJA

Hello 1292618,

The part number 753-1190 Split Boom Coupler, does come with the Knob and screws that will allow you to connect the upper and lower shafts.

Am I really expected to buy a whole new carburetor for just the primer bulb? Why isn't the primer bulb sold separately from the carb?

Question: Upper Drive Shaft Housing

Lakecam

Is this just the housing or is the driveshaft included. My housing is fine, but the drive shaft is stripped and will not turn the lower shaft.

Hi lakecam,

The shaft assembly includes both the outer shaft and the inner cable. It can only be offered this way because there are some connections on the inner cable that can only be made by the factory.

I hope this helps,

MATT CONWAY
Question: Dying

MATT CONWAY

I can get started but when I press throttle it dies like it's flooding out
UtahAV
Reply: Dying

UtahAV

Hi Matt,

That sounds like there is some dirt or debris in the carburetor's main jet. Many times just enough dirt will clog the jet so that the engine will start and idle using the carb's idle circuit. When the throttle is opened up the main jet comes into play and, due to the debris, there is not enough fuel provided to the engine. The carburetor will need to be cleaned. It would be a good idea to also install a carb rebuild kit.

I hope this helps!

Question: Oil Leakage

Gene

Oil is leaking out of my Troy-Bilt TB425CS. What might be some of the problem areas?
Tony
Question: Bump Head/Reel

Tony

The string keeps coming out. I bought a new reel and bump knob. It seems when you hold the bump in the string locks and when you release it the string keeps coming out, like it's working opposite. Everything inside looks like it's working,(slider, plunger etc.) Help
Thanks

We had the same problem with ours and the problem turned out to be a worn slider, #34 on the parts list. Part # 753-04257. It wore a groove on it where it slides against the e-clip, #35. Part # 791-181532. The worn part was catching against the e-clip and not returning to its original position, thus letting the line roll out. You might want to order a new e-clip as we ruined the old one getting it off. We also replaced both small springs, # 33. Part # 791-181459. The parts list shows one but there is a slot for two. Hope this helps. Ed

Question: Carb Kits

Jennifer

I need a carb kit, does anyone know where I can find the right one. I am seeing a carb gasket but I need the diaphragm and everything or do I need to buy a new carb?
Bill
Question: Troy Bilt

Bill

It stopped working a few months back. I cleaned the carburetor and changed the fuel lines. If I spray starter fluid in the carb, it will run for a few seconds and then stops. When I prime it, the gas seems to flow okay. I don't get it.

Bill,
Make sure you have the correct size fuel lines. Thats why Im here for parts. Do you see any bubbles in the line? Even if the primer bubble is ok, you may be sucking air with the wrong size fuel lines. They are 2 different diameters. Just tryin to help. Good luck : )

My TB425CS idles rough. It won't accelerate. I installed a new carburetor but I still have the same problem. Any ideas?

Question: Kill Switch

vaughn

I can't stop the trimmer. I have put an ohm meter on the switch and it shows that it is closing the circuit all the way to the coil, but it will not stop the engine. Any suggestions?

Mine started doing the same thing about a year ago I just use the choke to kill it.
Phil
Question: Running

Phil

I can get my trimmer to start with the choke on but when I pull the throttle lever to run it will cut off in about 15-20 seconds. It appears that it is not getting gas. I just replaced the gas tube from the fuel tank and pickup to the carb. The bulb appears full. Can you help?

Disassemble & clean the carb thoroughly. Pay attention to the tiny ports & the intake screen located behind the fill hose barb.

Question: Rope Replacement

marcos

How do you loosen the retaining nut to replace the rope?
Demian
Question: Drive Shaft

Demian

My trimmer would not spin when I squeezed the throttle today. Upon inspection I discovered what the problem is. The long thick cable inside the upper drive shaft housing has snapped at the upper end. I assume that the trimmer is fixable by replacing that cable/drive shaft, but I do not see that specific part listed here. Do I have to order the entire upper drive shaft housing? Does this come with that cable?

Thanks,

Demian

Mark

Hi Demian,

The upper drive cable is only sold as an assembly with the cable housing. The part number for the upper drive shaft assembly is #753-04503 and is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.

I hope this helps with your repair!

Runs great when the carb is not broken. I have replaced the carb twice at $40 a pop. Don't buy this trimmer.

I have used this trimer for about 5 years and never have had any problems.Sounds like a lack of user maintenance.

Ive had the same problem, seems like a pick up tube defect to me. Ive put several kits in mine but still end up cleaning carb every time I use it. I'm considering ordering a new carb but not really sure I want any repeat carb problems

I've had this trimmer for quite a few years, over 5, and occasionally have to replace the primer bulb or fuel lines due to decay (each a few bucks). I even had this thing in cold storage over a year when I moved away, and it fired up on the second or third pull.

It's been a great buy for me.
