Question: Gamefisher

loneshadow

i purchased a project boat recently. it came with a gamefisher 3 hp outboard (sears model number 298-586192, serial number 6138490) which seems to be a 1988 unit manufactured by tanaka for sears. in taking the unit to a marine mechanic for checkout he found it to be modestly used and in excellent condition except the air filter and all attaching devices to be missing. i didn't see a diagram of the filter and any other parts up to where it would fit to the carb. i am interested in obtaining the missing parts or finding substitues. if you sell the parts or know of someone else...please reply . email link removed

Hello loneshadow,

I located the air cleaner assembly on page F item number 31. It is part number 6690050. Unfortunately it is no longer available from the manufacture. You may be able to locate on if you search that part number on line.

Good luck,

Question: Tanaka 300 Gas Cap

1116071

While trying to refill my tank in the middle of a lake my gas cap came off the tank, chain and all, and fell into the water and promptly sunk. I need to find a replacement gas cap. Any help would be great.

Question: Game Fisher 3 HP Outboard Motor

kquenzer

I have a Game Fisher 3 HP Outboard that I like very much but cannot use because of small crack in the fuel tank. Is it possible to repair the tank or can I purchase a new one.

Hello kquenzer,

Other than trying to repair the crack in your fuel tank (which might bring up some safety issues) Here is a link to the part number for the tank, TOB-300 fuel tank.

Thanks. Any idea of a material that will adhere to the tank?

I took the petcock off and soaked it and it gets gas in the bowl, but won't start. It looked like cork fragments in the bowl. I know I need to replace it. Should I buy a rebuild kit? Does it sound like the jets are shot? And is there a screw adjustment on the side of the carb? I need to know how to set it. My son played with it and I don't know where it has to be set. Thank you for your time.

I replaced the petcock with the same issue as you. Go to your local hardware store and look in the lawnmower/small engine/weed eater section. Buy an "in line fuel shutoff valve," "in line fuel filter," and new fuel line. This is the order that it should go: gas tank->small piece of fuel line->fuel filter->small piece of fuel line->shutoff valve-> long piece of fuel line->carburetor. Use only the amount of fuel line that you can get away with.

The screw adjustment on the carb adjusts where the engine idles. Run the engine at the "start position" while you adjust it. Keep alternating between "start" and "idle" until you get the prop to stop spinning at idle.

Hope this helps! I have done all of this on my setup.
