Question: Trigger

trleach

took apart drill. disconected leads to trigger, plugged into battery and the battery smokes. (only happens on this drill model dw987). Plugged batteries into other drills and they work fine. Why would the trigger cause this to happen?

The trigger is shorted out inside. You are pretty much putting the positive and the negative together.

Question: Trigger Assembly

mike

Can I change my trigger assembly? I have no variable speed.
The trigger sticks also.

You can replace the trigger, but on your DW987 drill it's part of the switch (part #152274-19). The switch is usually the problem if you lose variable speed, and it will fix that sticking problem as well.
