This left sub-fence in your miter saw serves as a reference surface for making cuts and provides additional support when working with longer or angled workpieces. It is connected to the guide fence, which attaches to the back of the table and acts as a resting point for the material being cut. The sub-fence includes a caution label that reminds users to set it to the left position for left bevel cuts. Over time, the sub-fence in your miter saw can wear out or get damaged. If it no longer attaches securely to the guide fence, it can impact the accuracy of your cuts. When this happens, it needs to be replaced. To do so, use a wrench and screwdriver to remove the damaged sub-fence, then install the new one by tightening it with the previously removed fasteners. Afterward, you can check the alignment of the sub-fence using a carpenter square to ensure accurate and precise cuts. Please note that this OEM replacement part is sold separately from the right sub-fence and the guide fence.
