The metal Recoil starter hub spring connects to the starter hub and pulley and that provides tension for starting. This part is sold individually. You will need an Allen Wrench or a screwdriver to install the spring.

Pulled starter assembly, unscrewed hub, replaced spring and reassembled. Unscrewed handle, disconnected old switch, installed new one then reassembled.
