I have my late husband's drill. I went to use it and the battery down. It will not hold charge. The battery is obsolete. WHAT GOOD IS IT? Money down the drain. NEVER BUY SKIL.....
I like this tool. I bought it 13 years ago, while travelling, for a one time job. I have used it ever since. I am only an occasional user of tools so, I don't need expensive professional tools.
I will never buy another Skil product, because of their refusal to service this tool. The battery failed after a few (?) years. I contacted Skil for a new one. They replied that the battery was obsolete and there was no replacement. I left it laying on the shelf for a couple of years. Then, local people began replacing the cells in the original battery case. It has been rebuilt twice in the last 8 years, or so. I can't recount the use I got from this cordless drill in that time.
How did you replace the cells an what with? I'd like to try the same, and your help would be appreciated.

Same complaint. The tool works fine but the battery pack will no longer hold a charge. I will shop for a replacement tool (NOT SKIL) from a manufacture that will support their products further than the door.
