This Makita circular saw lower pivoting blade guard is a direct replacement for many of Makita\\\'s most popular side-motor saws. This is an OEM part--not after market or generic--and it is manufactured by Makita. This is the pivoting lower guard only and does not include the pivot lever or mounting hardware.     Take blade off. Remove locking ring. Remove old cover. Replace with new cover. Install locking ring, install blade.

    Simple repair, remove blade, then snap ring retainer. Look and take notes how the spring is attached. The rest is self explanatory for the most part.

    Saw had been dropped

    Screwdriver, Pliers, Socket set, Nutdriver, Power drill

    Removed blade: and four screws holding safety shield to housing along with three long screws on opposite side of saw and housing. Replaced both shield and blade cover. Reassembled . Be sure to ensure
    blade lock passes through properly from one side to the other notched groove of housing when reinstalling.

    Simply replaced the old parts with the new, the toughest part was getting the snap ring off to remove the cover.

    Missing safety shield.

    Adjustable Wrench, Dust brush

    With the wrench you remove the blade.
    Remove the retaining clip.
    Fit the shield onto the shaft housing.
    Replace the retaining clip.
    Install the return spring.
    Install the shield arm with the screw.
    Replace the blade.

    blade guard bent and housing snap ring groove broken

    removed blade guard and bearing/housing
    pulled gear off shaft to remove housing
    replaced gear on to shaft and into housing
    installed gear/housing with shaft on machine
    installed blade guard and snap ring to complete

    Saw fell off the back of a pickup & broke the blade guard and some parts were damaged.

    Removed lock bolt for shoe slide. Lowered shoe out of the way. Removed large snap ring. Guard return spring was missing. Removed broken guard & replaced with new one. Forgot to mention that the guard stop was removed to allow it to drop for clearance. Installed new spring & rubber stop. Finished by replacing remaining parts
