Power Tool Care and Maintenance 101
This article suggests guidelines for power tool care and maintenance. It also describes information tools available at eReplacementParts.com.
my scroll saw started sputtering and making noise like it wants to stop working. that's after it had been working fine the previous 20 or 30 minutes. the tension seems ok it has had its routine oiling. I blew it out with my shop vac tried again it still acted the same way, just replaced my bellow a week ago. kinda wondering what's wrong. is it tension related or is the brushed worn out in the motor?
My counter balance cap screw, set screw and rod came loose from the shaft on the motor and the lower rod. I can't seem to get the right combo on the cap screw tightness. Is there another washer besides the lock washer on the cap screw? It is either too tight or so loose it wants come back off.
The fittings for the air blower plastic tube are 3/8" on the upper end (white plastic pump) end, and 1/4" on the lower brass tube end. What size tube is best, and how does one install it?
I am not sure if it is the Blade Clamp screw or the housing that it screws into that is stripped, but the blade slips out and the screw becomes loose simultaneously. I am just unsure of what parts i might need to order besides the blade clamp screw
it sounds like you stripped the clamp that holds the screw. you might need a new clamp and keep the old one as emergency. all you have to do is get 2 nuts of the same thread and jb weld it and you have an emergency spare
Second saw with same problem. The blade holding arm (upper) hits the arm bracket when saw is running. I must over insert spiral pinless blade to use the saw. This is the second saw with this problem purchased in 2 weeks. Is there an adjustment in the rear of the saw that will cure this problem? Also the standard blade (with pins) has the same problem. I will NOT buy Ryobi products again. If this saw was checked after factory assembly it would have been noticed.
You need to over insert the blade so that the top arm will not hit. Also spiral blades will fit in blade holder if you flatten the ends out in a vice. The bellows will soon fail for you. The way I have over come this problem is to go to a store that sells fish. (Yes fish) They sell a air pump that blows air in the fish tank. They cost about $15 and 3/8" tubing. Hook that up to the air nozzle that came with the saw.
The pars are available thru ereplacementparts.com. There are a total of 4 parts to repair this item. I would advise ordering all 4 as it will be easier and it will give you everything to bring it back to new condition. Both the top and bottom use the same parts. The total cost it under $10.00 plus shipping.
Reply: WHAT PART DO I NEED?

The same thing happened to my saw. So, what are the names and order numbers of the 4 replacement parts I need?
The blade clamp stripped out and will not hold a pinless blade. There are four (4) pieces to the clamp. The piece that stripped is cast and has a threaded hole through it. Cast piece, spring, lockwasher, handtightening nut connect to the fifth part of the clamp that connects to the saw arm. Is there a replacement kit? Or do I need to buy each part individually? What are the part numbers needed?
