Hello beturazz,

Here is a parts list for the Ryobi RY60520 Cultivator. The part numbers in yellow are the ones that are no longer available. If you are looking for the gears for the 220029004 Gear Box Assembly. The manufacture does not supply internal parts for that item.

Hi seadog,

Unfortunately Ryobi does not offer the grommet separately. It is only available as part of the tank assembly.

Thanks,

I put electrical tape on the tube and force it into the hole in the seal. It works great.

Question: RY60520 Tiller

Some of the other posters mention having a problem with the RY60520 tiller idling fine, but unable to reach hi RPM (stalling, dying). I'm finding that the black factory fuel line & priming hose decomposes & crumbles into little pieces when fuel is left in the tank for prolonged periods, say, all winter. (OOPS, didn't mean to do THAT!!) A friend brought his to me having this problem, and I suspect that small particles of the decomposed fuel line have lodged in the very small passages leading to the hi-speed jet in the carb, effectively blocking fuel flow. I have one in the tear-down stage right now, looking for a way to dislodge, while using caution and compressed air. Replaced fuel line & priming hoses already, but didn't help because damage is already done.
I will report back with results.

My Dad's tiller did the same thing after I replaced the rotted fuel lines. I completely cleaned the carb making sure that all ports were not clogged. I also took the muffler off and on it there's a small plate with 3 screws. Took it apart and there's a small screen that had carboned up real bad. Cleaned it up and put all back together and the tiller runs great. Dad was glad not to have to spend money on a new tiller and I was glad that we didn't have to spend $106 on a new carb or $246 for a new small block.

I have a Ryobi #RY60520 Tiller. The pull rope is all the way out and will not go back in. What do I need to do? What parts do I need to replace?

Question: What Is The Problem

My machine (Gas Cultivator) barely starts. To keep it running I have to position the lever to full choke. If I place the lever on the run position the machine dies out.

Question: Ryobi Model #60520 Tiller

Jim H

Is there a pick up tube &/or/hose in the fuel tank? I see a short piece of tubing cut at an angle inside the tank. The tubing however is too short to reach the bottom of the tank. Is there supposed to be a filter device of some type on the end of this hose? How long over all should this tubing be? The tubing I'm seeing inside the fuel tank isn't very long....maybe 2-1/2" or so. Is that correct?

I am also needing to order part A30, Tank assembly. For RY60520. From the picture, it LOOKS like the assembly includes the necessary strainer & fuel lines, but wanted to verify this. I only need the fuel line(s) with strainer and priming tubes that pass through the rubber tank grommet going to the carb. But if A30 includes all this, that's great. Can you confirm? Thanks!

Question: No Power On Tiller

The engine is working but no power to till the soil. When I turn the knob to "RUN", the engine will die. It is just working in the full or half positions. Please let me know my tiller's problems.

Question: Clutch

Alex

I take it that when the motor revs and the tines don't move, the clutch needs to be replaced. Do I need to replace the flywheel too? Or is there any adjustment I can make. I have not opened the unit up as yet. Thank You, Alex

Hi Alex,

I would suspect the problem to be a broken drive shaft. The drive shaft is part #620368001 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.

I hope this helps with your repair!

The most common part to fail is the drive shaft, item #33, part #620368001. If that isn't it then I would look for stripped gears in the gearbox, then a bad clutch.

Good luck,

Tines weren't moving despite engine running fine. I took it apart and made the unfortunate discovery that the gears on the horizontal shaft where the tines attach are stripped. It seems that ereplacementparts only sells the entire gear box assembly, and it is not cheap. Anybody know of an alternative that would allow me to just get the shaft I need. Anybody parting out one of these tillers?

I have owned my little tiller for 2.5 yrs and have been relatively pleased with its performance. However, this year the carb has gummed up and will not let the engine run ( no gas getting through the carb to the engine). It would not be a big deal if I could just get a reasonably priced new carb to put on it. The engine will still run if i spray gas directly into it. My problem is the lack of reasonably priced replacements. $106 dollars for a carb for a $200 dollar machine is just to much. I am very disappointed. If this is Ryobi's idea of product support, no thanks. I'll find another product and brand.

I'm having trouble with the gas feed in my third season, too. The gas line is crumbling from ethanol in the gasoline. I replaced the line, but evidently, there is a piece still stuck in the feed. Each time I engage the throttle, it sputters and dies.

Someone recommended that i should scrape the carbon off the muffler. Muffler?

Good for you on getting another product. I have had lots of problems with my RY60520. I need a set of rings for mine and when i ask about them all i get is a look like a deer standing in front of head lights on a car. Like you I am not going to spend $240 for an engine.
You might try and changed the fuel line tubes and clean the carb real good. (inside)
