Hello 1230005,

The manufacture does not provide a piston kit for the Ryobi RY26500 Trimmer. The 309803002 Short Block Assembly, would have to be purchased.

Do you have an air filter for model Ryobi 26500?
WJA
Reply: Air Filter

WJA

Hello 1198625,

For the Ryobi model number RY26500, there isn't much of an air filter available. The only one the manufacture supplies for this model is item number 18, part number 518766001 Air Filter Base.

Hope this helps,

Question: Carb Part

mpekrul

can the little brass tube fuel line connections be purchased separately? the little elbows that press into the side of the carb. if not, do they come with the carb?
WJA
Reply: Carb Part

WJA

Hello mpekrul,

Because of the low cost of the 308054013 carburetor the manufacture does not supply any replacement parts for it. And the brass fuel tubes do come with a new carburetor.

Hope this helps,

Hello clayton,

I don't see a parts kit for this carburetor part number 308054013. Because of the low cost of the carburetor I don't see very many carburetor repair kits from Ryobi.

Question: Use On RY30004A

1094000

Will part 308054013 work on RY30004A?
The corresponding part 308054003 is more than 3 times more expensive.
Is part 308054013 a part of 308054003?
Thanks for reply

Hello 1094000,

I'm sorry to say the 308054013 and the 308054003 are two different carburetors that you just cannot interchange. It's like having two cars made by the same manufacture but two different models. There are just some parts you can't use for the other. I know it not good news.

But have a good day anyway,

dude11

Hi fellows, just joined in and have a question.Where can I find the tool to adjust jet screws??thax
WJA
Reply: Ryobi Carb.question-ry26500

WJA

Hello Dude11,

EPA Carburetors

Your machine has an "EPA" carburetor. Starting in 1997 The EPA placed requirements on how clean small engines are required to burn. As part of this restriction the carburetors are set at the factory. The carb then either has the adjustment ports capped or they use special adjustment screws so that the carb can only be adjusted by a tech trained in compliance with the EPA directives. The manufacture offers the special carb adjustment tools their authorized repair shops but not to the general public. The manufacture is liable to ensure that the equipment they sell complies with the EPA directive and therefore will typically not offer the adjustment tools for sale to the general public. You can learn more about the EPA emissions requirements for small engines at the following link...

http://www.epa.gov/otaq/consumer/f98025a.pdf

Before you adjust the carburetor you should determine why it needs adjustment first. A carb should only need adjustment when it is new and needs to be adjusted for altitude or after a carburetor rebuild has been performed. If a piece of equipment has been working fine and then starts acting up there will be more repair issues than a simple carb adjustment. The carburetor itself will not simply go out of adjustment. You will want to look at things like a tune up, a clogged carburetor, a plugged exhaust system, ignition problems, etc. Adjusting a carburetor requires some knowledge and experience with small engines. You can easily overheat and seize the engine if you are not familiar with the proper procedures. It is also a good idea to use an engine tachometer to be sure that you make the correct adjustments.

I hope this helps with the repair of your small engine!

No there isn't ,but after aweek of going nut trying figure how to get it back together ,I just got mine back together I looked at the parts break down here . If you use a long screw to go into the bottom of the grey cover and put it into the plastic piece at the edge of the spool retainer ,this withhelp youline up the 4 scresthat hold it in place ,then thread you new rope into the hole for the T handle ,than align itand putback all the screws . I am using wire cable ,acause I do not not want to do this again . Good Luck!

Question: Ryobi Weed Wacker

mjpia295

I need two parts. The first is the knob to set the choke. The second is the tool to adjust the mixture.
WJA
Reply: Ryobi Weed Wacker

WJA

Hello mjpia295,

Unfortunately the manufacture does not supply the choke lever as a replaceable part for this unit. The complete carburetor would have to be replaced. It is part number 308054013 . As for the tool to adjust the mixture, they are probably only sold to the authorized service centers as a special service tool. I have seen quite a few engines damaged because of a fuel mixture that's too lean. If not set right it can take out a engine within minutes. You might want to use a qualified small engine service center to make that adjustment for you.

Reply: Can The Piston Be Replaced

Hello Pansy,

You were not able to purchase just the piston assembly on the Ryobi RY26500 trimmer. You had to order the complete short block. It was part number 308892003. Unfortunately it is no longer available. Or you might try a Ryobi service center in your area that services gas engines. They might have an old engine you might be able to salvage.

After I changed the primer bulb, the trimmer starts, but floods out and shuts down whenever I squeeze the trigger. Did I reassemble the bulb housing the wrong way? What's the deal here?

Do not tighten the screws too tight at the bulb. This will cause it to suck air and cause the carb to flood out.

You must squeeze the gas trigger and hold it then put the switch in start while holding it and only let go after a few tries and it should start right up.

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately Ryobi does not offer any parts for the carburetor itself. You will need to replace the carburetor. The carburetor is part #308054013 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.

Good luck with your repair!

migdalia
Question: Motor

migdalia

No compression on motor.
Mark
Reply: Motor

Mark

Hi Migdalia,

Loss of compression is caused by wear to the cylinder and piston. The wear can be caused by normal use, or accelerated by not having enough or any oil in the fuel, or by setting the carburetor mixture too lean. The damaged cylinder and piston will need to be replaced. The best way to make the repair is to install a short block. The short block will replace the main engine components. The short block is part #308892003 and is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.

Good luck with your repair!

Where is the primer on the replacement carburetor for the CS30?
MikeA

On this model the primer is located right on top of the carburetor:

It's unfortunately not available separately. You'll have to buy the carburetor to get the primer.

Purchased @ Homedepot last year to replace a Ryobi that I had for years. It worked great. The cs30 is not as good as the old unit. The muffler fell off because the screws broke at the base. I had to drilled the screws out and replaced but they keep on coming loose. I keep on tightening them and is ok for awhile. Needless to say I am disappointed with this unit.

The ryobi CS30 is a very good cutting machine. It can perform edging and trimming in half the time of a craftsmans string trimmer I had before. However, the mechanical aspects of the Ryobi, is inferior to the craftsman. After the Ryobi get to running temp. and is used for an hour or so, it will not start until it cools off.The cold starting is anything but easy. I won't have another one.

Received this tool for Christmas 2008, used it once in May 2009 and the fuel line crumbled, also the fuel tank inlet and outlet connections are placed in a very easily damaged place, broke the connection off when trying to remove the crumbled fuel line. This tool is a piece of CRAP. ZERO STARS!

The trimmer worked great the first year. Now into the second year and it constantly stalls out or surges. I flip between hitting the throttle and flip the switch to start just to keep in running. I had a Ryobi for years and it worked great. I bought one at a garage sale for $5 and it did the job. I figure it was time for a new one. The folks at Home Depot said that Ryobi was their house brand. I figured it was a win-win. What a disappointment. The gas trimmer is all looks with no substance. On top of that it arcs and the spindle. A real disappointment. Prior to realizing my poor judgment in buying the trimmer I bought a Ryobi gas blower. It blows too. Blows as in don't buy it either. I tried to get replacement parts at Home Depot, they don't carry anything but the reels and spark plugs. A waste of $250.

I have contacted ryobi about my cs26 line trimmer, to no avail. The machine quit working after using it twice. My attempts to make contact with ryobi have always been answered with two responses; one, the product is under an American company, and two, an advertisement for new products. I will NEVER buy another ryobi. I have learned my lesson.

This tool is short lived. I have one on my bench now and I threw one away before I found this site. The idea is great, a power head and a ton of attachments. I used my first one alot and recommended it to my daughter. That's the one that I have on my bench. If you take it back to Sears they charge you more than a new one is worth. So buy it with with the idea of using it for a year and then throw it away or fix it.

Have used the tool 3 times, the reel easy string head is a problem, not so easy at all, the string gets suck a lot, so the rings or eyelet that feed the string fall off and get lost, so the string gets tangle on the shaft. So its a waste of time, effort and string. I dont recommend . Im getting the replacement part to see if it works better. Hope so. If not I´ll get rid of it.
