Question: How To Unclog Dust Vent?
How can I restore the dust collection mechanism when it seems to be clogged? Very little sawdust is being collected in the bag; instead, lots of dust is being blown onto the work surface.
Thanks for any help!
Reply: How To Unclog Dust Vent?
I would try removing the dust bag and, using an air compressor, blow some compressed air through the opening. Do this outside as it will make quite a mess! Strings off of the sanding belt, chips of wood or even a small spider web can clog the path between the belt and the bag. Sometimes sanding wood that contains a lot of pitch, like pine, can also cause clogging. The dust will stick to the sander and build up until it clogs. If this is the case you will need to disassemble the sander and scrape the sawdust and pitch away.
I hope this helps with your repair!
Question: Ryobi Belt Sander Tension
Hi all, broke the tension lever on my sander. (Ryobi BE318) Ordered the replacement sub-assembly, but can't get the original one out. This is a similar problem to removing the drive roller.
On this model the pulley has a molded in hex bolt, but the reduction gearing makes it really hard to hold the roller still to loosen the nut.
Anybody ever pull one of these apart, or similar? Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
Reply: Ryobi Belt Sander Tension
One method is to attach a locking vice grip pliers on the pulley..[not too tight to damage..!]
another is to impact it loose with a pneumatic or cordless impact gun..or wedge something between the housing and pulley..
I'm not really familiar with this model but have had to use these methods on other apps..:)
hope this helps..
Question: Dust Control Connectors For Ryob...
I am trying to find connector/adaptors to connect a vacumn hose to Ryobi such as 5" Random Orbital Sander (Model: RS290), 3 X 18 Belt Sander (Model: BE318-2), 10" Slide Compound Miter Saw (Model: TSS100L), 18V Hand Planer (Model: P610) and the like. I have found the dust bags but not vacumn connectors. Can the dust bag fittings be adapted to make these connectors?
