Question: No Start

jamnw

Carb or coil? I put my trimmer up empty, but now it won't start. Tried new spark plug. Tried spraying starting fluid to see if I could get a hit, but nothing. Would you suspect the coil or the carb?

Question: Fuel Line Nipples

Rik1t2

can you purchase the fuel line nipples needed to mount primer fuel line to the tank?

how to install the recoil spring 791-613102 in a 41CD766G034 which is different installation from others Ryoby.

Hey Guys I am replacing my Gearbox Assembly on my Ryobi 766R. With part number 791-180549. The GA (Gearbox Assembly) is slightly different but I was able to get it on. The only problem that I seem to be having is ether my Flexible Drive Shaft is too short (end maybe worn) or the new GA will not let the shaft of the trimmer to go far enough into the GA because when I start the trimmer the motor runs but the head dose not turn. Any help would be great.

Question: Missing Fuel Line Part

Omar

I have a Ryobi 766r trimmer/hedger. There are two fuel lines that enter/leave the fuel tank, and these go through a piece of black rubber. I can easily locate the fuel lines and primer bulb at this web site, but I can not locate the black piece of rubber. Help.

Question: Brush Blade

Brian

I've got a Ryobi 766r. I need to cut some heavy brush. In the old literature I see a brush blade, part #145873. I can't seem to find it. Is there a newer part number or a different one?

Hi Zack,

The feed line is part #791-682039 and the vent line is part #791-181086. Both parts are available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.

Good luck with your repair!

Question: Fuel Lines

Randy

I replaced the fuel lines when they started cracking. I think I attached all three line to the right places but the trimmer is hard to start and stalls when I accelerate. Is there something I did wrong? Or does the carburetor need adjusting?

Mark

Hi Randy,

It sounds to me like the carburetor is plugged. The carburetor can become clogged by dirt or other debris. With your trimmer the carb was likely plugged with pieces of the deteriorating fuel line. If fuel is left sitting in an unused trimmer for more than a couple of months the fuel will begin to breakdown and go bad. As the fuel breaks down it will start to become gel like as well as begin to coat the internal parts of the carburetor with a varnish. The gel and varnish will plug the carburetor so that fuel can no longer flow through it. To get your trimmer running again you will need to either rebuild or replace the carburetor. When you replace the carburetor it is always a good idea to also replace the air and fuel filters. This helps ensure that more debris won't clog the new carburetor.

There is not a carb kit available for the carburetor on your trimmer so it will need to be replaced. The new carburetor is part #791-182062 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com

I hope this helps with your repair!

Hi Michaeldb3,

The spark plug for your trimmer is available from ereplacementparts.com Here is a link to the correct plug.

766r Spark plug

The plug will come pre-gapped and ready to install. For most any small 2-cycle engine a gap between .020 to .030 will work just fine.

Hope this helps you out!
