Question: Ryobi 720r Carb

mlc1830

After cleaning the carb, I can get it to run - but only for a few minutes - then dies and primer bulb doesn't want to pump. After looking at some discussions, I assume the filters within the carb are gummed up (original parts about 20 years old). Anyway, my question is: The carb kit 791-180602 is more expensive than the whole carb 791-182875. Am I missing something? Is there an advantage in buying the carb kit over a new carb?

Hello mlc1830,

Like in most parts you buy individually sometimes the parts will cost as much or more the the complete part. I think the advantage of ordering the 791-182875 carburetor assembly. You are going to save yourself some time installing it, rather then rebuilding the carburetor itself.

Question: Clutch Assemby

Woody

How do I remove the Clutch cover? Does it require a puller?
I have a Ryobi 31cc Trimmer Plus 15" 720r. I was weed whacking and lost two screws on the unit. The screws came from a metal part that is located underneath the gas tank which contains 3 screws. Looking at your diagrams, it looks like part # B50 791-147575. This screw goes through 2 metal pieces and into the unit. I believe this is the part #: B47 791-182066 which (includes the bolts). Do you also sell the muffler cover? I would like to replace the muffler as well. Will these parts fit on the Ryobi 31cc Trimmer Plus 15" 720r. Thanking you kindly for your guidance.

P.S. I might as well purchase a new spark plug to have on hand. Can you give me that part #? Thanks again.
How do you remove the clutch drum assembly? The starter string will not retract.

Question: Fuel Line Replacement

madman

i recently replaced an fuel line and figured the problem was solved only to realize the unit still leaks. There appear to be two holes at the bottom of the gas tank. should another line be connected here? if so, where would it connect to.

One should go to the primer bulb and the other should come from the bottom of the carburetor (return line)

Hey I have the same problem and even wrote to Ryobi about it and no reply forth coming. I do have one primer bulb connected and one from the bottom of the carb but still have a hole at the bottom of the fuel tank that leaked out all of the gas. I did nothing like replacing the lines, it just started, looked to see if maybe something come loose where I stored it and also negative. The two holes are from front to rear with the empty connection as the rearward one.
