Question: Tiller Card

tward

I disassembled this carb is there an explosion of the carb to help me put it back together

Question: Clutch Cover

cg1

My clutch cover melted and broke in two causing the motor to come off the tiller. Upon inspection I found the clutch drum has some play in it. As in you can wiggle it about a 1/4 ". I removed it and inspected it and don't see anything wrong with it so I re-installed it. Is it supposed to have some play in it or is it supposed to stay solid? Maybe this is why the cover melted.

Reply: Clutch Cover

UtahAV

It is normal to have about a 1/4" of play back and forth on the clutch drum but there should be no side to side movement. It sounds like a bad clutch drum.

I hope this helps,

larryme

I have repaired the carburetor, it seems fine, however, the engine only runs on full choke. Maybe I have a crankcase leak. How can I test for it?

Question: Fuel Tank Assembly

pete80

How do you replace a fuel tank? Where do lines go? I hooked mine up and I can't get enough fuel when I push primer.

maberryman

Reply: Plate On Carb Has Hole In It

Yes, It belongs on the bottom.

Question: Ryobi 410r Tiller

wade

i replaced primer & line because it was rotten. now the tiller will run for about 2 minutes and dies. it will keep running if i keep priming it.

Reply: Ryobi 410r Tiller

UtahAV

Hi Wade,

I would guess that the problem is caused by dirt or debris in the carburetor. The fuel is not flowing through the carb so the engine starts to die. When you press the primer it squirts another supply of fuel into the carb and the engine runs again. Either cleaning or replacing the carb should solve the problem. If you decide to clean the carb you might find the following article and video helpful...

Cleaning a 2-Cycle Carburetor

I hope this helps!

Question: Fuel Supply

jgeorgew1951@yahoo.com

I have a small Ryobi roto tiller. The plastic line from the primer bulb to the tank to the carburetor have all gone bad. How do I find the parts? Do i just order new hose? what about the connections to the tank, where do I find the new connectors to the tank and the hose?

Question: 410r Gear Box

matt

Do I need to buy the entire gear box or can I just get the parts needed?

Question: 410rf Tiller Primer Bulb

linda

The primer bulb on our tiller is cracked. My husband does not think that we need to replace it. How does this affect how it runs?

jd

The fuel system is a sealed vacuum. This is my problem. If the primer is cracked the vacuum is broken, too much air to the air/fuel mixture, bogs it out.

josh

You will lose the prime and it will suck air and probably run bad. It could also leak.

Question: Gas Leak

Ray Heller

I just replace the fuel tank and I believe the lines are correctly installed according to response #2. Fuel is coming out of the bottom of the carburetor as soon as I fill the fuel tank. I need some suggestions as what to do?

Reply: Gas Leak

Bruce

How do I remove the fuel tank; there's a hole in the tank from a long screw from assembly. I'd like to remove it if it can be repaired or just order a new tank.

Question: Replaceing Fuel Lines

Tom Hodgson

I just bought a new fuel tank and primer ball with new fuel lines. the old lines were broken off. I just need direction as to the correct location of each line to the carb... to the primer ball... from the fuel tank....

Reply: Replaceing Fuel Lines

On my 410r the lines are as follows:

Line from tank with filter goes directly to inlet pipe on bottom of carb.

Line from tank without filter (possibly green(ish) goes to lower pipe of primer bulb assembly

Line from upper pipe on primer assembly goes to pipe on top of carb.

Question: Fuel Line

carlton

How do you seal the fuel line to the gas tank? Do you use a glue?

Reply: Fuel Line

Terry

I cut my fuel lines and drilled the tank out and fitted rubber grommets. It has not leaked since. I think that the original design was very poor.

Reply: Fuel Line

Drew

You need to put the fuel line through the gas tank then push the nipples through the bottom slightly pulling the gas fuel line at the same time. The white washers will hold the line on the the fitting and no need for any glue and it will be as good as new. The gas fuel line is a 1/8 inch tubing and the primer line is smaller.

Question: Ryobi 410r Gear Box

Tillerman1948

Hello to all..this is my first post....
I have a bad gear box on my Ryobi 410r.....
How do I remove it from the frame ??? Can I buy parts or do I have to purchase a NEW gear box.???
Thanks ..John J ...

Tillerman1948

Based on the drawing...I pull the 4 mounting bolts/ nuts and the sleeve srews. The tines are removed...just need to seperate the box from the drive cable....

I assume it just pulls out ?????

Reply: Ryobi 410r Gear Box

Tillerman1948

Ok... my friend said it just tap off. He was right, but I had to slit the case.. remove about 8 screw and then the gearbox came of the shaft with the drive cable.

I finished seperating the case...bads new..:(.. the main ring gear has broken teeth, about 1/2 of them....looks to be bronze material....... link removed I get a new gear or do I have to buy a whole NEW gearbox..

Reply: Ryobi 410r Gear Box

Hi Tillerman1948,

Unfortunately the manufacture does not offer any of the internal gearbox parts separately. The entire gearbox will need to be replaced. It is part #753-04489.

I hope this helps,

Question: Ryobi 410r Tiller

jackp

I am attempting to replace the recoil spring. I began taking it apart at the Clutch cover end. I have removed all the screws around the starter housing assembly such that there is about 3/8" play between the SH assembly and the shroud extension and stand. I believe that the clutch drum assembly is attached to the powershaft by a bolt/screw with a star/slot head that is accessible down thru the clutch drum assembly.
Am I on the right track? Can I dissasemble the unit and get to the recoil spring by loosening the connector that is visible down the clutch drum assembly. Would I turn this counter clockwise to remove?

Reply: Ryobi 410r Tiller

UtahAV

I think you are on the right track jackp. There should be a Torx screw (probably a T-20) down in the hole on the clutch assembly. You will need to remove the spark plug and put a rag or an old shoe lace down in there. You are making it so the piston can't rotate while you remove the screw and the clutch. Just be careful to leave enough of the rag or string sticking out that you can remove it later. The screw will remove counter clockwise. After the drum is off then you can grasp the clutch with a large set of adjustable pliers again counter clockwise.

Hope this gets things going for you!
