Power Tool Care and Maintenance 101
This article suggests guidelines for power tool care and maintenance. It also describes information tools available at eReplacementParts.com.
My entire fence on this Ridgid saw is warped beyond (complete or adequate) repair. Does anyone know where I can obtain a replacement at a (very) reasonable price? Have other owneers had this problem? The aluminum insert (which the blade comes through - name escapes me) also warped, and I need replacement, which I see is available on this page.
Rigid ts2400 saw started running slow and then tripped the breaker. When reset it looked like it was starting backward and then just hummed. The motor was not hot and showed no visible sign of damage or wear. I suspect the circuit assembly. Does this sound right and how could i diagnose it?
I far as I can see Ridgid does not publish wiring diagrams for this table saw. You may want to call Ridgid or contact a link removed Service Center for help.
My Ridgid TS2400-1 Table saw motor started running about half speed and has a burnt wiring smell. Also when running, it makes a surging sound. I may have been attempting to run wood through too fast and over worked the motor. Is this problem common? Can the motor be fixed? How?
The first part you might want to look at is the circuit assembly. It will help the motor maintain speed and torque under load. The odor may be the circuit assembly overheating and burning. The motor may well be the problem though. Inspect the motor, if you can see the windings inside and they are black and burnt on either the armature or field and it has a strong burnt smell, you will have to replace the complete motor assembly. The manufacture does not supply internal motor parts, therefore the complete motor will have to be replaced.
I have a TS2400-1 and the motor is not operating at full power. Maybe 30 percent power at best with or without the circuit board soft start. I have replaced the switch, reset button and circuit board. The outlet is supplying sufficient power and I am worried I need a new motor. A replacement costs almost as much as a new table saw and all the local ridgid repairmen want an arm and a leg just to find out what the problem is. What should I do next to narrow down the problem and hopefully avoid purchasing a new motor?
My table saw has barely been used. I can't seem to lower or raise the blade. The handle turns very hard and the blade does not move. I have sprayed it with lubricant, but doesn't seem to work. What parts should be replaced? The elevation crank shaft and / or the bevel gears?
The soft start feature has stopped working and now when you turn it on it takes about 6 seconds before it will actually spin the blade, is this in the control circuit?
I was wondering if anyone could help me with wiring up the motor and switch on the TS2400L. I got the table saw second hand and the previous owner had put a regular wall switch on it which pops the breaker when you plug the saw in unless the switch is on. In this case the saw starts as soon as you plug it in and runs without a problem. I have all the parts (some are on order), but I want to make sure that everything gets wired up correctly, including the soft start mechanism and the reset switch. I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram for this saw to save my life.
What is the function of the printed circuit board in the switch housing of the TS2400LS Table Saw. I think it is defective and would like to know if the saw would operate without it in the circuit. If yes, what would the consequences be for bypassing this circuit?
The circuit board controls the soft start and feedback functions of the saw. Without it the saw will start with a jolt and will not seem as powerful. The feedback part of the board maintains a consistent blade speed as a load is applied, makes it at more powerful and produces better quality cuts. The hard starts will also reduce the life of the motor.
The new circuit board is part #829971-7 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.
We have a Rigid table saw that when you turn on it fires and immediately powers off. Does anyone have any ideas...we have tested and found that the power source is good...we have jumped the on/off switch...also jumped the circuit breaker all with the same results. We have noticed that there is a circuit assembly that the switch and the circuit breaker run thru before going to the motor-has anyone else had this problem?? The saw is less than a year old and has seen very little use.
I have a Rigid TS2400 (table saw).......all of a sudden it won't run. I've checked reset and outlet....okay.
Is there an easy spot to see if switch is bad???? Or is there a spot on motor.....to see if power is getting to it?????
I have a volt meter........but just looking for the best choice(s).
Thanks.........D
It's most likely a bad on/off switch, but sometimes those reset switches will go out too. These are some of the most common repairs we see for the TS2400 saws. With an Ohmmeter you can check both switches, and I think you can check the leads with your voltmeter. Here are links to the switches:
Ridgid does not offer separate motor parts for this tablesaw. The motor is offered as an assembly. The motor is part #830381. The brush is part #816768. The brushes are sold separately. Two are required.
Good luck with your repair!

well i fixed it when we deal with china just got to think like them i ges i used a armature for a boush 4000 saw
I bought an old house about 2 years ago and am still in the process of doing a total remodel on it. My husband and I had an old table saw that has lasted though the last 30 years with us on remodels. Christmas of '08 we decided our Christmas gift to each other would be this great looking table saw at home depot. We weren't quit ready for it in our project but it was a great sale price and decided save now, build later. A project or two have come up on the house that called for the table saw. Now for the bad news, our saw didn't make 6 hours on it and the motor burned up. This table saw has a direct drive motor in a plastic housing that any heat warps the casing causing all the wiring in it to burn and warp the housing. We took it in to a motor repair shop and they informed us that it was not fixable that the same thing would happen. The wiring on the housing and the armature would just burn up again due to the plastic housing warping. So this is the worst table saw ever built!
Same thing happened to me. New motor - $460.00, new saw? I did not get my money's worth and will not buy another like this.

If the serial number on the saw has 0337 (if i remember right) in it, the motor is under warranty for life... usually with a receipt, never hurts to call and find out...
